Detroit indie artist Jax Anderson has built a reputation for writing indie-alt anthems that boldly speak to overcoming the forces in the world that try and keep us from loving ourselves and actualizing our full potential. Anderson is fresh off a fall tour with Bishop Briggs and Miya Folick, and a short headline tour in early 2020 with sellout shows in Detroit, Chicago, and Indianapolis. She has toured North America and Australia with artists like Foster The People, SIGRID, PVRIS, and Misterwives, and has played Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and more. Jax has a long list of past syncs with partners like ESPN, Netflix, Hulu, and Vodafone.

HEAL EP

The Heal EP is based on my process of healing through unlearning. i think it's important to question what you believe & why you believe it. these songs are a documentation of what i've unlearned over the past 2 years & how i’ve healed so many open wounds i didn’t realize existed in the process.

PRESS

Release Party

HealArtShow_1.jpg

To celebrate the release of “Heal”, Jax threw a Free large scale art exhibit in Detroit featuring six of her favorite Detroit visual artists. Each artist visually interpreted themes from her new EP, entitled “Heal”. Their work was displayed on a custom installation Jax designed inside the old Assemble Sound church sanctuary in Corktown, Detroit.

WHO IS JAX ANDERSON?

I’m first & foremost a songwriter & performer. In a past life I was a director & editor professionally & now use what I know to create all of my own content. Also v into photography & design as well. I like to say I’m creative boss. Also I was born & raised in Detroit, MI.

Why does Jax Anderson create music?

Because growing up I didn’t have anyone like me - openly gay, unashamedly obsessed with good pop songs, a female creative who directed & edited her own visuals, content, and designs. I didn’t have anyone to look up to that was a total creative boss. So I became one.

Who creates the music?

I write just about every song with my older brother, Seth (SYBLYNG). We then bring the track to friends around Assemble Sound to critique & make it better. We’ll touch on Assemble a little later…

Who is Jax Anderson’s community?

I believe in creating a strong sense of community. My fans are diehards who will drive 9hrs in a day to see me play. I know about their lives & they know about mine.

My personal community can be found at Assemble Sound in Detroit, MI. It’s a church from the 1870’s that a few friends & I purchased to create a space for us to develop our craft & create community. It’s a recording studio/rehearsal space/licensing house that is a hub for a shit ton of Detroit creatives. Assemble is where I find my producers/creative collaborators. I’m able to record all of my music & make all of my content for practically no money because of this space. It’s awesome & if you really want to peer into my heart & soul you should definitely come check it out sometime.
